努钦桑杰耶喜是莲花生的二十五位弟子之一。他是活跃于所谓的“黑暗时期”，即吐蕃王朝衰落与佛教后弘期之间，西藏的重要宁玛派大师。他与涅智童尊者及素钦释迦迥乃都是宁玛派亲承语旨授传的关键人物，他在三位中是第二位接受密续亲承语旨传承的人。努钦于莲花生及其他多名大师处受取密续灌顶。据说他在印度、尼泊尔以及吉尔吉特求学过。他撰写了关于大瑜伽根续经典《诸佛密意集经》的著名论释《密意集经广注·除暗武器》，还有一些译文收录于宁玛密续集《十万部续》中。
