The Treasury of Lives

Pelden Lodro (dpal ldan blo gros) was born sometime in the fifteenth century; details about his parents or place of birth are not available, and information about his life is sparse, possibly confused with facts about his predecessor, Peljor Lhundrub (dpal 'byor lhun grub), second abbot of Sera Je College (se ra byes drwa tshang) and the eighth abbot of Sera Monastery, Tekchen Ling (se ra theg chen gling).

He seems to have been appointed the third abbot of Sera Je College in 1481, the year his predecessor, Peljor Lhundrub left the post to become the eighth abbot of Sera Monastery.

He appears to have briefly served as the ninth abbot of Sera Monastery, appointed to the post by Peljor Lhundrub. But sources indicate that both died the same year, 1514, at the age of eighty-eight, which raises the possibility that his dates have become confused with those of Peljor Lhundrub. However, it is written that he did not live long after taking the post, and was unable to complete a series of teachings on the Lamrim, so the dates are possible.

He was a teacher to Jamyang Donyo Pelden ('jam dbyangs don yod dpal ldan, 1445-1524), who served as the fourth abbot of Sera Je and the tenth abbot of Sera.
