The Treasury of Lives

The Second Amdo Zhamar, Ngawang Trinle Pelzang (a mdo zhwa dmar 02 ngag dbang 'phrin las dpal bzang) was born into a family of the Gyakor (rgya skor) tribe, in a place called Bel ('bal) in Amdo, at the end of the twelfth sexagenary cycle, some time around 1745.

At a very early age, he was identified as the reincarnation of the First Amdo Zhamar, Ngawang Trinle (a mdo zhwa dmar 01 ngag dbang 'phrin las, 1661-1726). He was enrolled in Lamo Dechen Monastery (la lo bde chen) in Tsongka where he studied with some prominent masters, including Tritrul Lobzang Tenpai Nyima (khri sprul blo bzang bstan pa'i nyi ma, b.1689) and Kachu Monlam Peljor (dka' bcu smon lam dpal 'byor, d.u.).

It is said that he founded a meditative college but it was destroyed and the residents were moved to other places during a time of turmoil. Further details of his life are not available. He must have died before 1807, as that was the year his reincarnation, Ngawang Tendzin Gyatso (a mdo zhwa dmar 03 ngag dbang bstan 'dzin rgya mtsho, b. 1807-1848) was born
