Zur Ukpalung was an important Nyingma monastery in Tsang founded by Zurchen Shakya Jungne in the eleventh century. Zurchen's student Shakya Sengge led the monastery subsequently. At its height it was well-known for as a center for scholarship of Nyingma tantra.
