The Treasury of Lives

Tongkhor Ganden Chokholing is an important Geluk monastery in Amdo that was founded in 1648 by the Fourth Tongkhor, Dogyu Gyatso. The monastery was built to commemorate the visit of the Third Dalai Lama, and it is an important monastery for the Mongolian tribes of the Kokonor region. It is known for its high level of Tantric study and practice. It is the seat of one of the branches of the Tongkhor line.
