Tangring is a Geluk monastery in Amdo that was founded in 1619 by the Thirty-seventh Ganden Tripa, Tangringpa Gedun Rinchen Gyaltsen. The monastery includes an institute for philosophical studies as well as a tantric college, which was founded in 1732. The temple was rebuilt in 1986.
