Tsangsar Lhalam is a Barom Kagyu monastery in Nangchen that was founded by a lama named Tsangsar Karma Tenkyong in 1638. It was a family monastery of a branch of the Tsangsar family headed by Orgyen Chopel, the husband of Konchok Peldron, Chokgyur Lingpa's daughter. Their children included Samten Gyatso, Tersey Tulku, Lama Sangngak, and Chime Dorje, the father of Tulku Urgyen. Due to their influence, the monastery became a center for the practice of the revelations of Chokyur Lingpa, known as the Chokling Tersar.
