Diskit, a Geluk monastery in the Nubra Valley of Ladakh, was founded in the fifteenth century by Sherab Zangpo. It is believed to be the oldest monastery in Nubra containing a gathering hall, temples, shrines, and a school housing about 100 monks. It is also known for a large statue of Maitreya consecrated in 2010 by the Fourteenth Dalai Lama.
