The Sodrak incarnation line dates to the eighteenth century Sonam Drakpa, who was posthumously known as the First Sodrak Tulku. This incarnation line is associated with Labrang Tashikhyil.

Sonam Drakpa, posthumously known as the First Sodrak Tulku, served as the seventeenth throne holder of Labrang Monastery from 1779 to about 1783. He was a Chod master who was involved in the spread of the tradition in Amdo.
