The Treasury of Lives

Wolkha Cholung Monastery, located near the town of Wolkha in Zangri County, was intitally founded as a hermitage in 1393 by Tsongkhapa, who meditated in the nearby Wozerpuk cave with followers who came to be known as the Eight Disciples of Wolkha. Tradition holds that Tsongkhapa's footprints can still be seen in this cave. The reconstructed assembly hall has images of Tsongkhapa and the eight disciples, as well a protector deity.
