Kyitopa, a Kudrak family, first entered the higher strata of Tibetan government when Kyitod Sonam Puntsok was appointed the Governor of Western Tibet (To Garpon) in 1751. According to Petech, the estates were assumed by the Rampa family at some point when there were no remaining heirs.
