Karma Ngawang Drakpa Chokdrub, who would posthumously be known as the First Lhatse Tulku, was a nineteenth- and early-twentieth-century Yelpa Kagyu lama based at Jang Tana Monastery. He was a student of the First Tsoknyi and the Dabzang Karma Ngedon Tenpa Rabgye. He should not be confused with the Lhatse Tulku line affiliated with Pelyul Monastery.

The Second Lhatse Tulku was a twentieth-century Yelpa Kagyu lama based at Tana Monastery.
