It is said he studied with over thirty teachers including Tendzin Chogyel (bstan 'dzin chos rgyal, d.u.); the Fifth Minling Trichen, Gyurme Trinle Namgyel (smin gling khri chen 05 'gyur med phrin las rnam rgyal, 1765-1812); the Fourth Dorjedrak Rigdzin, Gyurme Lhundrub Dorje (rdo rje brag rig 'dzin 04 'gur med lhun grub rdo rje, d.u.); the Getse Panchen of Katok, Gyurme Chokdrub (dge rtse paN chen 'gyur med mchog grub, 1761-1829); the renowned treasure-revealer Jigme Lingpa ('jigs med gling pa, 1729/30-1798); the First Dodrubchen, Jigme Trinle Ozer (rdo grub chen 01 'jigs med 'phrin las 'od zer, 1745-1821); and Rigdzin Jigme Gocha (rig 'dzin 'jigs med go cha, b.1763).
