The Treasury of Lives

Namdroling was established in 1963 in Bylakuppe, India, by the Third Penor Rinpoche. Tubten Tsondru was the first Abbot of Namdroling. It is one of the largest Buddhist monasteries in the world, home to nearly 5000 monks. It includes a monastic college, Dongak Rikpai Jungne Ling, founded in 1978, and popularly known as the Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, and two practice centers: Ngagyur Samten Wosel Ling, built in 1985, and Namdak Trimkhang Ling. An associated nunnary is Tsogyel Shedrub Dargye Ling. A publishing house was established in 1991.
