Khenrab Sengge was born in Drayab in 1911. He became a monk at Tsangsar Monastery (gtsang sar dgon).
He studied there with Khenchen Lodro Gyeltsen (mkhan chen blo gros rgyal mtshan), who had previously served as the fourth abbot of Khamshe, the monastic college of Dzongsar Monastery, and a lama named Kunga Lodro (kun dga' blo gros).
He then spent five years at Khamshe, studying under the seventh abbot, Dosib Tubten Gyeltsen (mdo srib thub bstan rgyal mtshan, 1902–1971), and serving as a teaching assistant (skyor dpon) for several years.
He received multiple transmissions from Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro ('jam dbyangs chos kyi blo gros, 1893–1959) including the two divisions of the Lamdre, the Treasury of Instructions (gdams sngag mdzod), and the Compendium of Sādhana (sgrub thabs kun btus). He received Māyajāla, Guhyagarbha, and Hevajra empowerments from Khenchen Tubten Chopel (mkhan chen thub bstan chos 'phel, 1886–1956) of Changmai Monastery (lcang ma'i dgon) and Khenchen Tubten Nyendrak (mkhan chen thub bstan snyan grags, 1883–1959) of Śrīsiṁha College at Dzogchen Monastery (rdzogs chen dgon). Rago Choktrul Tubten Shedrub Gyatso (P732 ra mgo mchog sprul thub bstan bshad sgrub rgya mtsho, 1879/1890–1961/1973) gave him the transmission of the Longchen Nyingtik (klong chen snying thig) together with teachings on trekcho (khregs chod) and togel (thod rgal). He also received teachings from Trinle Chopel (phrin las chos 'phel) of Jyegu Monastery (skye dgu)
Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro appointed him abbot of Khamshe in 1956. He served until 1958, the year that the monastery and the college were destroyed by the Communist Chinese.
Khyenrab Sengge died in 1970.
