He was considered to be a reincarnation of Dungtso Repa "The Earlier," active in the thirteenth centuries and early fourteeth centuries.
While in the On ('on) region Dungtso Repa met the female master Kunga Bum (kun dga' 'bum, d.u.). She accepted him as her student and consort.
Dungtso Repa revealed treasures in Monyul, at Kyungdzong Gangra (khyung rdzong gangs ra) and in Lato, at Sinpodzong (srin po rdzong). At Sinpodzong he revealed the Ladrub Dungwa Zhije (bla sgrub gdung ba zhi byed) and the Tsedrub Okyi Bumpa (tshe sgrub ’od kyi bum pa), which he transmitted to numerous disciples.
In Dakpo, on the shores of Lake Maṇḍal Nakpo (mtsho maNDal nag po) above Daklha Gampo Monastery (dwags lha sgam po), Dungtso Repa revealed the Dzogchen cycle of Yangti Nagpo Serkyi Druchik (yang ti nag po gser gyi ’bru gcig).
