Sang Ngak Tekchokling, a Nyingma monastery, was founded in the sixteenth century by Jangdak Tashi Tobgyel of the prominent Jangpa clan that traced their ancestry to Tri Songdetsen. Many important Nyingma figures taught at the monastery, which specialized in Nyingma tantras, specifically the Guhyagarbha Tantra.
