The family home of the Roerich family in Kulu-Manali valley, among the hills of Naggar, in Himachal Pradesh state of northern India. Nicholas Roerich, the Russian painter and explorer, and his wife Helena bought the land from the Raja of Mandi, and based their avant-garde Urusvati Institute there, founded in 1928. Scholar Gendun Chopel spent two years here, assisting their son, Tibetologist George Roerich, in translating the famous Tibetan chronicle The Blue Annals.
