Puri was a monastery located in Nyalam that was in existence by at least the thirteenth century. In 2002, a significant corpus of texts was unearthed in Puri village and is now preserved at Tibet University Library.
Puri was where Shong Lodro Tenpa translated the Śrīsaṃvarodayamahātantrarājapadminī-nāma-pañjikā (Toh. 1420), a commentary by Paṇḍita Ratnarakṣita. It was initially translated into Tibetan by Paṇḍita Sarvajñaśrībhadra, and then on the orders of Pakpa Lodro Gyeltsen, Shong undertook a new translation.
