The former mansion built on the southwest corner of the Lhasa Barkor near the Jokhang by the aristocratic Kyitopa family, which first entered the higher strata of Tibetan government when Kyitod Sonam Puntsok was appointed the Governor of Western Tibet (To Garpon) in 1751.
