The former mansion built on the southwest corner of the Lhasa Barkor near the Jokhang by the aristocratic Kyitopa family, which first entered the higher strata of Tibetan government when Kyitod Sonam Puntsok was appointed the Governor of Western Tibet (To Garpon) in 1751. The estates were assumed by the Rampa family at some point when there were no remaining heirs. The house was demolished in the 1990s and rebuilt as Mandala Hotel.
