Kyage, a Geluk monastery located in Chone county of Amdo, was founded in 1587. Ngawang Trinle Gyatso, a member of the Chone Royal Family who was abbot of Chone Gonchen in the eighteenth century, constructed a new gathering hall at Kyage as part of the funerary offerings after the death of his mother.
