Budta Monastery was established by the Drukpa Kagyu lama Gotsangpa in the thirteenth century. It became the main seat of Orgyenpa Rinchen Pel and his brother Golungpa Dode Pel. It is located on Nyen Mountain across a mountain range known as "the seven brothers of Budta" in Zurtso, Nyalam.
