The Treasury of Lives

Purbuchok is one of the largest hermitages above Sera Monastery. Said to be built on the site of a Padmasambhava meditation cave, it was first developed by the Tselpa Kagyu founder Lama Zhang Yudrakpa in the twelfth century, and converted to the Geluk tradition by the First Purchok, Ngawang Jampa in the eighteenth century.
