According to the 15th century bshad mdzod chen mo, the four sons of Se byu legs originated the Se clans but Gene Smith notes the text has been corrupted by this point, so this information may not be reliable. The Se clan in Amdo belonged to the Sekhyung Dra ancestral clan. Among the tribal groups related to the Dra clan, apparently some were called Se and some were called Khyung.
