Rinding was a nunnery associated with Nalendra Monastery in Penyul, north of Lhasa. Kunzang Tendron, a sister of Chogye Trichen Rinpoche, served as abbess in the 1950s and increased the number of nuns from around thirty to around eighty, most of whom came from the surrounding nomadic regions.
