Khampagar is a Drukpa Kagyu monastery founded in 1958 by the Eighth Kamtrul Rinpoche, who fled the seat of the Khamtrul incarnation at Khampa Gar monastery in Chamdo as a result of the Communist occupation of Tibet. Originally based in Kalimpong, the exile monastery moved to its present location in Tashi Jong, Himachal Pradesh, India in 1969.
