Chitokha, also known as Shar Chitog Khar, one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan, is near Wangdi Phodrang in eastern Bhutan. The foundations were laid by Tangtong Gyelpo when he built a temple here in the fifteenth century. Around 1682, the Second Gangteng, Tendzin Lekpai Dondrub, founded his winter residence here.
