The Bari clan was an Amdo family network based around today's Pari region, Kansu Province. Bari Lotsāwa was a member, as well as the mother of the Third Tukwan. Both the Second Jamyang Zhepa and the Third Tukwan studied under a scholar named Bari Ngawang Dondrub. Shinglung Monastery was founded by a lama named Bari Kachu Drakpa around 1644. Another lama named Bari Lama Dondrub Tashi served as head lama at the tantric college at Jakrung Yarlung Monastery in Wuwei, Gansu.
