The Treasury of Lives

Tokla Drangpa Lodro Gyeltsen (thog bla brang pa blo gros rgyal mtshan) was born in 1366, presumably at Sakya Monastery (sa skya dgon pa). The names of his parents are not known. He is said to have had a very open and kind disposition.

He took ordination from Lama Dampa Sonam Gyeltsen (rje bla ma dam pa bsod nams rgyal mtshan, 1313-1375), the Fourteenth Sakya Tridzin. He studied also with the Sixteenth Sakya Tridzin, Dawen Kunga Rinchen (sa skya tA dben kun dga' rin chen, 1339-1399).

In 1399, at the age of thirty-four, he ascended to the throne of Sakya as the Seventeenth Sakya Tridzin. During his tenure he invited many great masters to Sakya. Among his students were Rigpai Wangchuk Gewa Gyeltsen (rig pa'i dbang phyug dge ba rgyal mtshan, 1387-1462)

He passed away in the year of the iron rat, 1420.
