Buddhaśrī

Buddhaśrī was an important Sakya master active in western central Tibet in the late fourteenth and early fifteenth century. He was an important Lamdre master who passed on that teaching cycle to Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo.

Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo was one of the most famous and influential Sakya teachers of the fifteenth century. A student of Sharchen Yeshe Gyeltsen and Buddhaśrī, he played an important role in the revitalization of the Sakya tradition following the collapse of Yuan patronage, with the establishment of Ngor Monastery in 1429, and the cultivation of support from Mustang and the Rinpung family in Shigatse. He famously engaged in a polemical debate with Khedrubje over the authenticity of the Sakya Hevajra teachings. Among his disciples were Muchen Sempa ChenpoGorampa Sonam Sengge, and  Shākya Chokden

Pelden Tsultrim

Pelden Tsultrim was an important Sakya Lamdre master of the fourteenth century. His main disciples were Buddhaśrī, Sharchen Yeshe Gyeltsen, and Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo.

Sabzang Pakpa Zhonnu Lodro was a Fourteenth century Sakya lama of considerable breadth of learning, receiving teachings from dozens of lamas of all traditions then active in Tibet. He was a main teacher of Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo and Kunga Gyeltsen.

Sanggye Puntsok

Sanggye Puntsok was the twenty-fifth abbot of Ngor, serving from 1686 to 1689. He played a significant role in developing the close relationship between Ngor Monastery and the royal house of Derge during the early eighteenth century.

Sharchen Yeshe Gyeltsen, an eminent lama of the Shar family of Sakya Monastery's Labrang Shar, was one of the chief teachers of Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo. He is known to have commissioned many images in the Newari influenced painting style.

Sheja Zangpo

Sheja Zangpo served as the twenty-seventh abbot of Ngor Monastery, from 1695 to 1703.
