The clan of Cho lived in the Amnye Machen region known as Trika in Amdo in present day Qinghai. The region carries the name of a powerful spirit in the retinue of Machen Pomra, the patron deity of the region. Zhabkar Tsokdruk Rangdrol, one of Tibet's foremost yogis, was a member of the Cho clan.
