Hemis Monastery is a Drukpa Kagyu monaster in Ladakh. It was founded in the eleventh century and restored in 1630s by Taktsang Repa Ngawang Gyatso, a key figure in the religious tradition of Ladakh, under the patronage of King Sengge Namgyel.
