Mawochok, an ancient Nyingma pilgrimage site connected to Padmasambhava, was the seat of Nyangrel Nyima Ozer. Initially a hermitage, it developed into a monastery under the direction of Namkha Pel, Nyangrel Nyima Ozer's son and in turn was expanded by Namkha Pel's son, Ngadak Loden Sherab.
