Khyungpak Tsang was a Bon monastery that was in existence by the thirteenth century, when Donggom Zhikpo, the fifth lineage holder of the Nyengyu Rigpa Chertong tradition of Bon Dzogchen, studied there. It was at Khyungpak Tsang that Donggom received ordination from Khyungpak Gyelbu Lama (khyung 'phags rgyal bu bla ma).
