The Treasury of Lives

Chatreng Sampel Ling, a Geluk monastery in Kham, was founded in the mid-seventeenth century by a local chieftan named Pon Khandro. It was built on the site of a Kagyu monastery that had been destroyed by the army of Gushri Khan. It was the seat of the Third Trijang, tutor to the Fourteenth Dalai Lama.
