Otantapurī was a Buddhist monastery in northern India and believed to be the second oldest monastic university of India near Nālandā in present day Bihar. It served as the physical model for Samye Monastery in Tibet and was active until the thirteenth century. At its height there were as many as twelve thousand students at Otantapurī.
