Buchu Lhakhang is a temple located in the Kongpo region. One of four border supressing temples founded by Songtsen Gampo in the seventh century, it was built to supress the supine demoness of Tibetan mythology. Originally associated with the Nyingma, most recently it functions as a Geluk institution, with several monks in residence at the site.
