Napu Monastery is a Drukpa Kagyu monastery near Dorje Drak. It was founded in the twelfth century by Lingrepa Pema Dorje, a student of Pakmodrupa and teacher of Tsangpa Gyare, the founder of the Drukpa Kagyu tradition. It functioned as a nunnery during the time when Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo visited. In the 1960's its buildings were destroyed, with some reconstruction in the 1990's.
